Somervell Presbyterian Church - Hall

Somervell Presbyterian Church is a progressive, affirming and welcoming church that is the perfect location to host a wedding, concert or performance. It’s also suitable for community events, art exhibitions, and many other functions. Situated minutes from Remuera and with easy access from the motorway using the Greenlane exit, and with free parking, hosting your event here could not be more convenient. We aim to meet the needs of all who would like to share and enjoy our community buildings, church and other resources. The Church is a modern building with lots of windows letting in natural light. The hall space benefits from high ceilings, and fixed ballet bars along one wall for dancers. It has sprung wooden floors - great for dance practice or rehearsals.

The hall space has great acoustics, and doesn't carry sound outside the space. At the side of the hall is a store room with trestle tables and chairs. The space has an under floor heating and ventilation system. Large sliding doors (with rubber stoppers designed to limit noise penetration) open up to readily access the adjoining carpeted foyer - please book the Foyer if you would like to utilise both spaces simultaneously. There is a servery hatch that opens up into the hall from the adjoining kitchen.

With the Hall being 14m x 10m, it is suitable for:

• 80 people, seated at tables, or

• 100 people, standing or lecture style

There is a portable TV/video screen, with HDMI cables available for hire. You must bring your own adapters if none of these work for the ports on your machine, or you can bring a memory stick. For simpler options, a whiteboard is available at no cost.

You are able to book the kitchen as an add-on, either with lite use (tea/coffee and finger food etc.) or full use (cooking meals etc.) for self-catering your event or with external caterers. Included in the kitchen are sinks, zips (for instant hot water), a fridge, oven and cooktop, microwave and steriliser. There are cups available and limited crockery, and we recommend you bring your own cutlery, glassware and cooking and serving equipment. You are welcome to serve alcohol at your event. If you intend to sell alcohol at your event, please make sure you have purchased a license from Auckland Council. You are welcome to decorate the hall for your event. However, you must not use pins or tape or anything that would damage the walls or furnishings. Please note that the hall must be left as you found it, so all decorations must be removed. All decorations and anything you have brought in for your event must be removed by the end of your booking as we can't accommodate storage or set up/pack down before or after your booking time has ended. Please book the time you need in the hall space to set up, pack down and clean as the hall may be used directly before or after you.

The hall is fully accessible and there are accessible toilets located off the adjoining foyer. There are designated parks for those with limited mobility in front of the church. There are also baby changing table in the toilets off the foyer, although we do ask that guests take used nappies away with them to prevent lingering odours.
