About this space

Murwillumbah Community Centre is a welcoming and inclusive hub supporting local people, services, and programs. Our goal is to provide accessible and affordable spaces for not-for-profits, community groups, and government services to meet, collaborate, and deliver activities that benefit the community. The Lilly Pilly Room is one of our most versatile rooms. It’s perfect for smaller workshops, group programs, counselling sessions, planning meetings, training, and interviews. We do not hire to private businesses or commercial operators. Need a bigger space? The Lilly Pilly Room can be hired together with the adjoining Waratah Room to create one large room with double the capacity and more layout options.

The Waratah Room is a bright and spacious meeting room located inside the main community centre building. It has large windows that let in plenty of natural light and a simple, professional feel that works well for group events or seated sessions.

The room is well-ventilated and has both a ceiling fan and heating. It’s positioned close to reception & bathrooms.

When booked with the Lilly Pilly Room, a retractable dividing wall can be opened up to create a larger open-plan space perfect for events, forums or larger training sessions.

Included in the room hire is:

Wifi

Tables and chairs

Moveable whiteboard with markers

Ceiling fan and heater

Access to shared kitchen with tea/coffee facilities

Use of foyer/waiting area for guests

Staff support during business hours

Hire fees are charged hourly or by the day. A discounted rate is available for regular hirers. There is no bond required for standard bookings.

After-hours bookings may attract a surcharge or require key collection – this can be arranged with staff.

Please note: we only accept bookings from community groups, not-for-profits, or government services. Commercial bookings are not accepted. Proof of your own Public Liability Insurance is required at time of booking.

This room is used regularly by community groups and programs including training providers, parenting groups, arts programs and service meetings.

We offer reduced rates for recurring bookings and can help with set-up.

We’re also happy to promote your group or session through our centre network if requested.

U-shape – up to 15 guests

Classroom – up to 15 guests

Theatre – up to 30 guests

Cocktail/standing – up to 30 guests

There are multiple power points throughout the room.

Rules

Light decorations like signs or paper displays are welcome. Blu-tac is allowed, but no pins, tape, or nails.
Please include set-up and pack-down time in your booking. The room must be left clean and tidy, and all decorations removed.

This space is not suitable for parties or amplified sound. No open flames, confetti, or candles allowed.

Additional details

Host's Cancellation Policy
100% refund on cancellations up until 2 days before your booking. After that, there are no refunds on cancellation.
Parking and Public Transport Information

We’re located in central Murwillumbah, just a short walk to cafés, parks, supermarkets, and public transport.

Local favourites like Knox Park, local galleries, and bakeries are close by – perfect for grabbing a coffee or bite to eat before or after your session.

Public parking spaces are available on Nullum Street. The centre is a short walk from the central bus services based on the other side of Knox Park.
