The Mackersey Family Pavilion at Havelock North Village Green
About this space
The Mackersey Family Pavilion is located in the heart of Havelock North at the Village Green, next to the playground. It was designed by Eric Phillips as a cricket pavilion in 1938 and was orginally built overlooking the old cricket field. It was relocated to the other side of the domain in 2016 to be made available for community use. It’s a great space for smaller events such as birthday parties, community groups, meetings, training and workshops.
The venue is available for hire as a single space. It includes kitchen and toilet facilities. French doors open onto the pavilion's deck and a large tiled outdoor area, overlooking the domain. The interior space has beautiful polished wood floors and paneled wood walls.
Included in the space hire is:
Air-conditioning and heating system,
1x couch and 1x armchair, 4x trestle tables, 20x chairs
Access and exclusive use of kitchen facilities
Access and exclusive use of interior hall toilet facilities NB: There are fully accessible toilets with public access on the exterior of the building.
This venue has a capacity limit of 22 people. The hall dimensions are approximately 9m x 5.5m. There are 4x double socket power points in the main hall available to use.
The commercial kitchen facility is located within the hall. You are welcome to use the kitchen for catering your event, or for activities such as cooking classes. Included within the kitchen is a sink, oven and stove top, a microwave oven, and small fridge. Please note that there is no dishwasher available, so all dishes will need to be washed by hand. You will need to BYO cutlery, glassware, crockery, cooking and serving equipment.
You will need to obtain a special license from Hastings District Council if you plan to serve alcohol at your event, as the Havelock North Village Green is within the Havelock North Alcohol Ban Area (https://www.hastingsdc.govt.nz/services/alcohol-licensing/special-license/). You may use external caterers for your event, although please be aware that there is no direct vehicle access to the kiosk, so all food and equipment must be carried from Te Mata Road. You are expected to leave the hall and kitchen as you found it, and to book enough time after your event to clean up. All rubbish must be removed from the park.
