About this space
This is the largest room of the Cottage and is suitable for meetings and small events. The Maitland Room is a beautiful room space with ornate ceilings and lights. It has reverse cycle heating and cooling. It can be hired on its own or with the kitchen.

Rules
RULES
Booking times must include set up and pack up/cleaning times.
The hirer is responsible for setting up and packing away all furniture used for their activity.
Hirers shall not use the Centre facilities for any purpose other than the purpose for which it was hired.
Hirers must not sublet to another person or groups.
The hirer must ensure an appropriate level of supervision of their group to ensure other users of the site are not disrupted.
Hirers must take their rubbish with away with them. A $150 fee will automatically be deducted from the bond if rubbish is disposed of in SHNC bins, neighbourhood bins or traders bins.
No helium balloons, smoke machines, live bands of an evening, or fireworks are permitted. A $150 fee will automatically be deducted from the bond if helium balloons are found anywhere in the Centre or if a smoke detector is set off due to use of a smoke machine or fireworks.
No parties for 15-18 year olds inclusive.
All or part of the bond will be forfeited by the Hirer in the event of property damage, overstaying time of hire, caretaker visits for issues where instructions have been provided, loss of, or not correctly replacing key cards provided for access, incomplete cleaning of venue, leaving rubbish, nuisance or noise caused to neighbours, loss of SHNC community goodwill due to hirer or guest actions or if helium balloons are found anywhere in the Centre.
ALCOHOL
Alcohol may be served (but not sold) at your event under the following conditions: Partysafe: If the event is for a party for ages 13 - 14 years and 19 - 22 years, you must register your party with the Victorian Police through completing a Police Partysafe Form. The Partysafe form can be downloaded from VICTORIA POLICE , then search for Partysafe. Then post the completed form to: Boroondara Crime desk, Boroondara Police Station, 34 Harp Road, Kew, 3101. Liquor can only be served up until 10:30pm and must not be served under any circumstances to persons under the age of 18. Failure to comply may result in a partial or full deduction from your bond.
If alcohol is to be sold, the hirer must obtain a liquor licence and provide that to the Centre one week prior to the hire date.
INSURANCE
All hirers are required to have Public Liability Insurance for their event and agree to release Surrey Hills Neighbourhood Centre from any and all claims that can be made. A Certificate of Currency that covers the date of the hire must be provided and that certificate must be in the same name as the hirer.
Any services engaged at your function, eg caterer, entertainer, outdoor jumping castle etc will also be required to provide a copy of their Public Liability insurance as above.
Private individuals may be eligible for Public Liability cover under our policy.

Limited parking is available at the rear of the Centre, accessed via Zeplins Lane, off Bedford Ave, Surrey Hills
Union Station is a 2 minute walk from the Centre. There is additional parking available at the station There are usually plenty of spaces available on weekends.
