About this space
Our performance and event space is inviting, artistic, comfortable and well equipped for a variety of uses. It is often used by actors, musicians and poets, both for performance and practice. It is also well suited for retreats, workshops and conferences.
If you are a loud band looking to practice - please see the note at the bottom as there are particular times that you can book.

There is also a large kitchen and hall space suitable for meals or as a additional breakout space. If you want this facility as well, you will need to book it as an additional space. See 'Cityside Community Space and Kitchen.')

The venue can comfortably seat 100 people on the couches and chairs which are permanently set up in the space. Seating can be rearranged if required but we ask for the room to be returned to the default set up at the end of your booking.
Events which have a higher number of attendees or require additional administrative support may incur an additional charge. E.g. using the space as a film location, a gig, a wedding

Cityside seeks to make community activity possible. If you need space and the cost is still out of reach for you. Please send us a message about your activity and we may be able to offer you an additional subsidy.
Special note for musicians who like to practice at loud volume:
We love having musicians use our space. However, this can only happen at limited times.
Friday evenings, between 5pm and 9pm
Saturday between 9am and 9pm
Some public holidays with plenty of advance notice
Please do not try and book at other times during the week, even it shows the space is available, because there are other activities going on in the building that would be impacted by noise.
You will need to bring all your own music equipment, including drums, microphones, leads. A PA is available to plug into.

Rules
Enjoy this space and care for it!
Return furniture to the default setting if you move it.
Cleaning is the responsibility of the renter unless arranged beforehand which will incur an additional fee.
All rubbish must be sorted into appropriate bins for maximum recycling opportunity.
Loud music noise curfew of 9:30 pm.
All health and safety practices must be followed. Risk Analysis must be completed for all regular programmes and events.
All health and safety incidents or hazards must be reported. There are QR codes on the walls of the space which take you to an online form.

Additional details
Public Transport options are excellent.
Situated at the junction of Mt Eden Road, New North Road, Khyber Pass and Symonds St, you can catch the bus in any direction. Also Cityside is a short walk to Maungwhau / Mt Eden train station. (Currently closed for CRL upgrades - access from Kingsland train station with a free bus to Mt Eden Road.)
Bikes: There are plenty of options for making a bike secure around the venue. Personal locks/chains are required.
Parking:
Do not use the church car parks or driveways as these are leased out.
There is free parking in the street on evenings and weekends.
Paid parking is available during work hours Monday - Friday and in the local car park on the corner of Mt Eden Road and Symonds St. Rates are much cheaper than in the city. Approximately $2-3 per hour between 8am and 6pm weekdays.
