Flaxmere Park Events and Recreation Stage Area
About this space
Near Henderson Road access, this recreation and events area has a stage and largrassy area amongst the trees.
Award-winning Flaxmere Park is home to one of Hastings premier playgrounds and skate plaza. It also has sports fields, marked for rugby in the winter and cricket in the summer, a large number of mature shade-giving trees, and a pond.
For the purposes of events and general recreation, the park is divided into three zones. You can book one zone or multiple zones depending on your event.
Zone 1 is accessed via Henderson Road, and is the area near the playground and the stage.
Zone 2 is the grass area accessed via Henderson Road and includes the pond area.
Zone 3 is accessed via Wilson Road and is the area used for sport. There are two rugby fields marked for senior rugby from March to August. There is an artificial cricket wicket with a boundary marked from October to March. To book these please see the separate sports pages for Flaxmere Park. Depending on what you would like we can do additional line markings for your event that is being held in zone 3.
Flaxmere Park was named Recreation Aotearoa's Active Park of the Year in both 2020 and 2023.
There are two separate blocks of public toilets throughout the park.
The entrances to the park are off Henderson Rd, Wilson Rd and Flaxmere Ave.
Flaxmere Park is a Green Flag Award-winning park. A Green Flag is an international mark of quality awarded to parks and reserves. There are 27 criteria against which they are judged, including management plans, community consultation and engagement processes, environmental and sustainability practices, horticultural management and succession planning, safety, and how accessible and welcoming they are to their communities. They are judged each year to ensure the parks are being consistently improved and continue to meet the needs of their communities.
