About this space
The Aaiotanga Community Space (ASC) provides a rare option for gatherings in Auckland City Centre.
Very affordably priced, we offer a warm and welcoming environment that is particularly handy to our vertically aligned, city centre neighbours.
Our main, event space is a large lounge type environment with plenty of clear space to set up more chairs or tables. It is perfect for meetings, workshops, classes, presentations, meet-ups, yoga, community groups, meditation, chess groups, kids classes, rehearsals, book readings, poetry, acoustic music performances - and much more. It could even be used as intimate wedding venue.
It comfortably holds 40 people seated and allows some distancing if required under pandemic rules.
Within this larger space, we also have a small meeting room that can be used for one-one supervision or language tutoring. (Listed separately)
Additionally we have desks that can be used on a casual or part-time basis. (Listed separately)
The hire of the space includes:
- WiFi
- Whiteboard
- Projector & Screen
- Tables
- Chairs
- Power
- Use of a small kitchen and food prep area
- Couches & comfy seating
- Padded theatre style meeting chairs for 20 (Additional couches and other padded single seaters allow us to host a group of up to 40, more if some don't mind being seated on the floor.)
Our space is an inclusive and respectful environment. Whoever you are, will be celebrated in this space. We are proud supporters of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Please note that the building is not yet wheelchair accessible though we do have a portable ramp that we are able to put in place when required. Use of this requires supervision of our friendly staff and volunteers.
Catering and Alcohol
You are welcome to self cater your event at Aaiotanga. We have a small kitchen space with cups and glasses for up to 40 people. Plates, bowls and cutlery to serve up to 20. You are also welcome to use external caterers.
Please note that however you cater your event, you need to leave the space as you found it. Please book enough time to clean up the space and kitchen.
It's OK to bring small amounts of alcohol for a private gathering, but not to sell it.
Evening Bookings
There is a minimum booking time of 3 hours after 6pm. If you are an unfunded community group, we offer a $5 hourly discount. To redeem this, use code COMMUNITYRATE at checkout.
