Open Country Community Stadium is Matamata’s largest indoor sports and events venue, available for hire seven days a week from 6:00am to midnight.
This modern, multi‑purpose facility is suitable for a wide range of indoor sports, training, competitions, and community events. The stadium features:
Two full-sized basketball / netball courts
Eight badminton courts
Three volleyball courts
Eight pickleball courts
Flexible court configurations to suit different activities and event types
The venue also includes a multi‑purpose room with a full kitchen, ideal for meetings, workshops, team functions, and small events (up to 40 people).

Non‑marking footwear only is permitted on the sports courts
No food, chewing gum, or glass in court areas
The venue is smoke‑ and vape‑free
No open flames, smoke machines, bubble machines, confetti, or glitter
Children must be actively supervised at all times
Court equipment, basketball hoops, and scoreboards may only be operated by authorised adults
Noise must be managed responsibly to avoid disturbance to neighbours
Hirers must leave the facility clean, tidy, and secure at the end of their booking
For events with more than 50 people, high‑risk activities, or frequent bookings, an Event Safety Management Plan may be required. Bonds may apply for certain bookings, including events involving alcohol.
Failure to follow venue rules may result in bond deductions or loss of future booking privileges.
