Downer Community Centre - West and East Hall

Simultaneous hire of the adjoining East and West Halls provides the best of both worlds - the practical flooring of the East Hall with the soft and comfortable West Hall. These two large spaces are connected with a door and both open onto the secluded garden space, which can be added to your booking.

Whether you have a presentation in the West Hall followed by a meal served in the East Hall, or you are simply seeking a multi-use space for large gatherings, this hall combo allows for freedom of activity.

Welcome to the West Hall at Downer Community Centre, offering a comfortable and spacious space to for meetings, workshops and gatherings. Carpeted and quiet, the Hall offers open floors perfect for yoga classes and meditation. The tables and chairs can be arranged to suit all manner of workshops, meetings, presentations and more.

The West Hall seats up to 55, but please note that no food or drink is allowed in this hall.

Features:

• Capacity and Layout: The West Hall features a large open space which is carpeted and comfortably seats up to 55 guests, making it suitable for various types of gatherings. The East Hall seats 50 and has a hard lino-like floor which is perfect for meals and arts & crafts. A craft wash-up sink is located adjacent to the East Hall.

• Furniture: Both halls offer open floor spaces and tables and chairs which can be arranged to suit your needs.

• Kitchen hire is included in your booking - the Centre has a kitchenette with a stove, microwave, fridge, urns, cups, cutlery, etc. Dishwashing liquid and cleaning cloths provided, but hirers are required to bring their own tea-towels. Please note that the kitchen is available to all hirers in the building and is not for exclusive use.

• Toilet Facilities: Male and female toilets are located within the building for the comfort and convenience of your guests.

• Accessibility Note: The Centre does not have facilities for disabled toilets. Additionally, the public toilets near the oval have been decommissioned.

• WIFI and a large whiteboard are available for your use. A data projector can be added to your booking.

• Emergency Equipment: For safety, an AED (defibrillator) and a First Aid box can be accessed on the left-hand side wall of the kitchen.

Please note that hire of the West and East Hall combo does not include access to the outdoor garden area:

• The East and West Hall opens onto a fully fenced outdoor garden space with a sandpit, artificial turf and a large shade cloth. Exclusive use of the garden space can be added to your booking.

• The West Hall is carpeted and seats up to 55. No food or drink is allowed in this hall.

• The East Hall has lino flooring and seats up to 50. Food and drink is permitted in this hall.
