Jim Pollock Whyalla Wetlands
About this space
The Jim Pollock Whyalla Wetlands is a family-friendly recreational space featuring BBQ facilities, picnic shelters, a nature playground, toilets (including baby change and wheelchair access), and walking paths with interpretive signage. The site includes nearly 7 hectares of artificial lakes supporting native birdlife and aquatic ecosystems, with accessible paths and a central gazebo.
Developed by Whyalla City Council with support from the Whyalla Norrie Rotary Club, the wetlands offer shaded seating areas, a viewing point, and sustainable hybrid toilets. The area is part of the Whyalla Heritage Trailways and provides an ideal setting for community gatherings, nature walks, and educational visits.
Named in honour of former Mayor Jim Pollock, the site reflects his legacy of community-minded development and environmental appreciation.
The site is also home to the Sumthin' Tastee Cafe.
