About this space

MJ McInerney Reserve in Kilkenny was upgraded to help create a better, more interactive reserve for surrounding suburbs. The upgrade and reinvention of the space has seen MJ McInerney Reserve receive the award for Best Playground in its category at the Parks & Leisure Australia Awards of Excellence.

The new features include:

  • upgraded timber play space with nature and water play

  • junior and senior playgrounds

  • barbecue and shaded picnic facilities

  • new and upgraded paths

  • event space

  • public bathrooms (toilet block)

  • full length basketball court

  • tennis courts

  • netball ring

  • skate park

To highlight the importance of using these shared spaces safely, the City of Charles Sturt worked with a local artist Di Caught from The Colour Manifesto to create a series of posters which feature some of the furry faces who visit MJ McInerney with their owners. Each poster includes some important messages for all dog owners. Keep an eye out for these wonderful posters and be like Banjo, Loumi, Pumba and Charlie and help keep everyone safe in all of our parks across Charles Sturt. Love it? With ample lawn and dedicated sporting zones through the well-established shady park spaces, MJ McInerney Reserve is an all-ages open space. Birthdays, family gatherings, friendly sports challenges, all are popular ways to spend time in these active surroundings.

Examples of approved activities suitable for the Reserve;

  • Community activities and/or services catering to all ages and cultural groups ie child play groups, biodiversity and nature activities etc.

  • Fundraising, educational and community awareness events that support cultural diversity, health, fitness and general community wellbeing.

  • Activities of a passive or active nature that promotes a healthy active lifestyle ie tai chi, yoga, outdoor fitness training groups, minor competitive sports.

  • Small family celebratory events

Rules

§ No confetti or rice may be used at Council venues and open spaces

§ Volume of music must be controlled in the interest of nearby park-goers and must cease no later than booking duration

§ Water weights may be used to secure shade structures, however under no circumstances shall tent pegs/stakes or any other object be driven into the ground without council approval.

§ Users must display written Council approval, and proof of line marking if erecting any pegged tent/ marquees

§ Toilets – Soap or hand sanitiser, and paper towels shall be provided by the hirer

§ Users must display written Council approval for any and all equipment erected at Council venues

§ Users must display written Council approval for any and all Jumping Castles/ Amusement Rides/ Petting Zoos

§ Users must display written Council approval for any and all special activities such as (but not limited to) Vehicle Access, Merchandise Vendors, Food Vendors, Entertainment, Sales of merchandise, alcohol, products and other commercial activities

Host's Cancellation Policy
100% refund on cancellations up until 14 days before your booking. After that, cancel and get a 50% refund.
