About this space
The E-Bike Pilot Program is proudly supported by the City of Boroondara and will operate from Surrey Hills Neighbourhood Centre between 28 July 2025 and 1 December 2025. E-bikes will be available for a two-week loan period, commencing on a Monday and concluding 14 days later on a Monday.

To be eligible to borrow an e-bike, you must:
Be able to ride a bike and supply your own helmet.
Be a resident of Boroondara, aged 18 years or over and be able to provide proof of identity and residential address.
Have a secure location to store the bike when not in use.
Hold current Bicycle Network Rider Insurance via a Premium Membership from Bicycle Network.
Agree to operate the bike in accordance with the instructions provided prior to the loan.
Sign the Boroondara e-Bike library Waiver and release form.
Be available to collect the bike on a Monday afternoon (between 12.00 pm and 2.30 pm) and return it on a Monday morning two weeks later (between 9.30 am and 11.30 am) at a pre-arranged time. (Exceptions to these times are possible by agreement with Surrey Hills Neighbourhood Centre in advance.)
Please note:
that each borrower group may only borrow one e-bike for one two-week period during the period from 4 August until 8 December. There is a limit of one loan per household.
you may also borrow panniers, a front rack or a Thule baby seat with the e-bike. You will be asked which (if any) you would like to borrow during the booking process.
there is a GPS fitted to the e-bike. For the purposes of this pilot program it will be recording the bike location and distances travelled.
Extra items and charges
This space has extra items and charges that can be added to your booking. Some may be required depending on your booking time and type, which will be shown at the checkout.

Rules
You must:
Be able to ride a bike and supply your own helmet. You will be asked to demonstrate your ability to ride a bike as part of the checkout procedure.
Be a resident of Boroondara and aged 18 years or over. You will be asked to provide photo ID to confirm your identity and address.
Have a secure location to store the bike when not in use. You'll be asked to forward a photo of where you plan to store the bike when not in use.
Hold current Bicycle Network Rider Insurance and be able to provide evidence of such. You will need to:
a) purchase the Premium Annual Membership subscription subscription (which includes your insurance). This is the blue tab at Premium Membership | Become a Member | Bicycle Network
b) select monthly payments ($13.58/month)
c) then cancel your membership when your hire period expires. If you fail to cancel your membership it will continue to charge your credit card monthly.
Agree to operate the bike in accordance with the instructions provided at the time of the loan. This includes not leaving the e-bike unattended while charging, and not charging it over night or in the rain.

Be available to collect the bike on a Monday afternoon (between 12.00 pm and 2.30 pm) and return it on a Monday morning two weeks later (between 9.30 am and 11.30 am) at a pre-arranged time. Half hour appointment times will be agreed between Surrey Hills Neighbourhood Centre and borrowers at the time of booking. There are limited opportunities to borrow and return on a day other than a Monday. Please ask us if you would like to do this.
Additional details
The e-bike will be loaned with a secure bike lock. It's expected that borrowers use this at all times including when the bike is at home.
