About this Space
Soulsprite is a community hub for vitality, health and families. Situated in the historic Devonport highstreet, this space benefits from beautiful original brick walls, natural light and stunning lighting. Owners Ben & Kate Walden created this space to help people cook together, learn about healthy eating and build a strong community founded on joy, connection and positivity.
The kitchen & dining space is perfect for anyone looking to start up their own cooking classes or run a community kitchen - without the long term commitment. Always wanted to teach people how to make your favourite foods? Well this is your chance to get going!
The space has multiple work stations with hobs. The hire of the space comes with:
All utensils, crockery, pots and pans
10 hobs
5 ovens
8 hand blenders
4 food processors
Knives
Bluetooth speaker to play music
WiFi
iPad with music
The space is suitable for 10 adults + instructors to work in or up to 15 children.
Next to the kitchen space is the dining area. This has table seating for up to 25 - so you can invite family and friends to share the feast when you’re done. The dining space also has a projector. Feel free to bring decorations and table covers.
This space would work well for:
Cooking classes
Community cooking
Filming food videos for social media/youtube
Hosting a feast
Breakfast or brunch club
Family or friends party
Girl Guides or Scout Groups
Food photography
Recipe testing
Food & Drink
You will need to bring all the food that you need for your event. We do have pantry basics on hand for emergencies. This kitchen is not yet commercial grade, so you can cook, prepare and eat the food with your guests, but not make food to sell off the premises.
You may bring BYO alcohol, but can not sell alcohol to your guests.
There is fridge space for storing fresh food, but only for the duration of your booking.
Cleaning
You need to hire the space for long enough to clean up after your event. This means washing everything you’ve used and clearing down the counters. A deep clean of the facility after you’ve left is included in the hire fee. You can alternatively hire one of our helpers to assist with clean up.
Access
We will meet you at the premises and show you around 30 minutes before your booking. The space is wheelchair accessible and we have 1 disabled toilet and 3 other toilets. There is a big corridor for your guests to wait in before hand, if you’re prepping the kitchen space. The counter height is quite high for a wheelchair user, but the dining table would be OK for food preparation.
Filming
We use this space for filming our own vlogs and food videos. We recommend using it up to 5pm for this so that you get the benefit of the light. After 5pm, the restaurant next door can be too noisy for professional filming.
Location & Parking
Parking is unrestricted on Sundays. All day free parking on other days can be found on Rattray Street or Kerr Street. You can drop off directly outside the venue on Victoria Street.
The venue is a 5 minute walk from the Devonport Ferry terminal.
We are right in the heart of Devonport and a 2 minute walk from New World if you need to grab any last minute supplies.
