SpacetoCo Host since September 2021Edith has been an active member of the Covert Theatre since 2018 and joined the Improv Bandits in 2021. She is passionate about the Covert Theatre and the wonderful community it serves. She makes sure that the Theatre runs smoothly day to day and will be the one to answer any of your calls and queries.
About this space
The Covert Theatre is the home of Improv comedy in Auckland, but it could also be home to your community group too! The theatre is available in our off-peak hours at a special community rate for anyone looking to host a group meeting or class here. This is a prime position to host your community at, as we're 1 minute from Ponsonby Road. The space is a blank canvas for your group. There is a large floor space that can be divided into stage and seating or just kept open. The space would work well for yoga, dance or fitness classes, support or counselling group, church groups, singing and morning meetups or networking.
The space hire includes:
Theatre space
Small tables and 60 chairs
Free Wifi
Access to the kitchenette for water
Basic overhead lighting. You can play music in the space using our speakers. The technical sound system and theatre lighting is off-limits as it requires our technician to operate
Kitchenette & Catering: You can bring your own food into the space and there is access to a small kitchenette for heating food, a sink and water. You can leave rubbish in our bins. The theatre and kitchenette space must be left as you found it. Please book enough time to clean up. If the space requires additional cleaning, we may need to charge you the additional cleaning fee.
Bar & Alcohol: Unfortunately the bar area is not included in this space hire and BYO alcohol is not permitted.
Accessibility: The venue is fully wheelchair accessible, and has disabled toilets.
Rates/Charges/Discounts: This rate is only available for our off-peak hours. We'd love to get a regular group using the space and can set you up on a monthly post-pay arrangement. Message us for details.
Nearby: The theatre is in the heart of Ponsonby. Just 2 minutes walk from Ponsonby Central's famous food court and so many top 50 cafes and restaurants, this is a foodies paradise. It's also a retail heaven with some of NZ's best loved brands and indie shops close by.

There is on street paid parking all around the theatre. There is also Parkable slots and large car parks just a few minutes walk away. There are plenty of public transport options, with many buses including the Inner Link circulating Ponsonby Road.
