SAFETY INFORMATION
The beaches on the northern Bellarine Peninsula are not patrolled by lifesavers and you are responsible for your own safety.
Bellarine Bayside employees cannot assist with the use of the equipment.
The Sandcruiser is designed to provide accessibility on sand and soft soil.
The Sandcruiser can be used in low water levels up to the centre of the rear wheel (approx 15 cm?). It must not be used in deeper water.
Do not use the Sandcruiser during adverse weather or poor/dangerous beach conditions.
The Sandcruiser is only safe and suitable for access to the water during daylight hours.
The user must have at least one (1) support person on the day to operate the Sandcruiser.
The Sandcruiser and user should not be left unattended or unsecured at any time.
The maximum weight limit of the Sandcruiser is 120kg.
Avoid turning suddenly and never try to climb and descend a slope diagonally.
Do not attempt to cross rocky/uneven surfaces while the wheelchair is occupied.
The Sandcruiser does not fit into the standard accessible toilet due to extra-wide wheels. It does fit into the Changing Places facility (MLAK key required to access).
Care should be taken in hot weather as the metal frame can heat up and lead to burns.
Adverse weather conditions or large swells can result in sand loss and erosion that may temporarily disrupt beach access (including cancellation of wheelchair hire). Bellarine Bayside monitors beaches regularly and will take all steps possible to notify upcoming hirers of any disruptions.
Please contact Bellarine Bayside for enquiries or to report any damage or faulty equipment at [email protected] or 5254 4000.
