About this space
Somervell Presbyterian Church is a welcoming church that is the perfect location to host a wedding, concert or performance. It’s also suitable for community events, art exhibitions, and many other functions, including a child's birthday party! Situated minutes from Remuera and with easy access from the motorway using the Greenlane exit, and with free parking, hosting your event here could not be more convenient. We aim to meet the needs of all who would like to share and enjoy our community buildings, church and other resources.
This room is ideal for your next child's birthday party, or for another family celebration or event. We can even provide a number of large toys for entertainment (please select that option when you make your booking):

Plastic mats are also available for use.
There is external access, as well as direct access to a grassed courtyard. And, you will be next door to the Somervell Op Shop, so depending on the day of your event, you and your guests will have a prime opportunity to find a bargain!
Down the corridor, you have access to the Redding Lounge, which has a small kitchenette complete with a zip, sink, microwave and small fridge, as well as a table where you can prepare food for the party or event. There are cups and available and limited crockery, and we recommend you bring your own cutlery and serving equipment. You are welcome to serve alcohol at your event. If you intend to sell alcohol at your event, please make sure you have purchased a license from Auckland Council. Third party catering is permitted. Note that the kitchen size may not suit this, but it is allowed. All rubbish must be removed completely from the address. Please BYO bin bag and tea towels, as well as spray'n' wipe for wiping down the toys before returning them to storage.
You may put up decorations as long as they do not mark the walls/ceiling and are removed afterwards.
The spaces are fully accessible and there is an accessible toilet located along the corridor. There is a designated park for those with limited mobility in the lower carpark near this room. There is also a baby changing table in the toilet.
Party bookings minimum 3 hours - this allows sufficient time for set up and for cleaning.
Please note that for parties, there is a $250 SpaceProtect/Bond fee. This will be fully refunded to you if the space is left in a satisfactory condition.
Somervell Presbyterian Church is within walking distance of nearby shops and eateries. There are a number of options for your after event drinks.

Rules
No smoking or vaping on site.
If you set the fire alarm off, you may be liable to pay the call out fee for Fire & Emergency NZ to attend the site.
No parking on the grass.
Rubbish must be removed from the premises.
Venue must be left in original condition. You will need to supply your own cleaning supplies and vacuum cleaner to clean up the spaces after the event.
If rules are not followed this may result in a partial or full deduction from your bond.
Please be aware of the AFTER HOURS EMERGENCY EVACUATION INSTRUCTIONS as below:
In the event of an Emergency Evacuation of the building being required outside main service hours, all building occupants should follow the instructions set out below:
IF YOU DISCOVER A FIRE:
Raise the alarm immediately by operating the nearest Fire Alarm Call Point
Ensure Fire and Emergency New Zealand is notified per 111 call (select line 1, 2 or 3 then dial 111 if using an internal telephone)
If safe to do so, quickly check that the floor is clear of all other people
Leave immediately by your nearest escape route as indicated on the Fire Action Notice displayed adjacent to the Fire Alarm Call Point
Assemble at:
a. Main or Upper Floor – Under the large pōhutakawa tree at the top of the driveway (North/west corner of property)
b. Kindergarten & Ground Floor – Far corner of Lower Ground Car Park
Report to Fire and Emergency New Zealand on their arrival, adjacent front Alarm Panel
Do not attempt to re-enter the building until Fire and Emergency New Zealand have given the "All Clear".

Additional details
The church has 14 free onsite car parks, which are first come first serve to all our users. There is free on-street parking, however we advise users to check the signs as restrictions do apply in each direction of Remuera Road, depending on the time of the day. Three buses stop within a few minutes walk of Somervell Church - the 75 (Auckland CBD to Glen Innes), 751 (Newmarket to Panmure) and the 65 (Pt Chevalier to Glen Innes) .
