About this space

Situated in the heart of Castlemaine, within the Library complex. This theatre performance complex comprises of a spacious open foyer, enclosed bio-box, dressing rooms and loading dock.

The theatre is currently used for a range of events, from local community or school productions, touring shows, live music, dance, forums, seminars and lectures, community meetings and art exhibitions.

The foyer of the theatre is a shared public space with the Library and can also be hired for Community Meetings and Art Exhibitions.

We (Screen Acting Studio) are using the theatre for acting classes - kids, teens and adults. The theatre is a perfect venue for the classes. As soon as I walked into the space I felt at "home". We use the stage for improvisation and performance. The stage can be well-lit for workshops. There is very little to no exterior sound filtering in. This gives the impression of complete privacy, creating a safe space for creative experimentation and performance. I (Rohan Jones) was very inspired as a teacher, and was able to observe the positive influence working in the Phee Broadway had on the students.

Fantastic theatre in the center of Castlemaine. The duty technician Simeon was very helpful, in house tech was quite good. The venue coordinator Natalie was very helpful and a great communicator. We will be back again
