It is located in the Peel Region about 80 kilometres south of the Perth central business district. The Shire extends across the Peel Inlet and the Swan Coastal Plain into the Darling Scarp, including about 77,000 hectares of State forests. The Murray River flows all year throughout the district. The Shire is centred in the town of Pinjarra, one of the oldest towns in WA.

Local recreation reserve surrounding the North Pinjarra Community Hall with play equipment, recreation space, mixed-use basketball and netball court, tennis court, small-scale BMX track and oval which is a designated off-leash dog exercise area.
The Shire of Murray's open spaces are available for the public to use in a passive recreational way. For gatherings with expected attendance of fewer than 50 people, with no intention to bring infrastructure to the open space, do not require a formal booking. If your event is of a larger scale, a Special Event Application is required to be submitted to the Events Team - https://www.murray.wa.gov.au/services/permits/event-applications/special-event-application.aspx. Fees and bonds may apply.

Dog poo must be picked up with doggy bags. Dogs are permitted to be exercised off-leash except within 10 metres of the established playground area.
