About this space
Railway Square is an award winning, architecturally designed civic gathering and festival space.
Set against the historical backdrop of the iconic Midland Railway Workshops, the square is an inviting event space capable of hosting a variety of events and activations for the broader community.
The square is located in the former shunting yards when trains were shunted into and out of the workshops and interprets the former use of the space through industrial materials, custom rail furniture, artworks and interpretative rail lines that run through the space.
If you have an upcoming event and are looking for a unique architecturally designed space, this is the place for you!

The Booking period must include set up and pack down.
The Booking is subject to the City of Swan’s Public Event Approval process. Event organisers must comply with a range of health, safety and insurance requirements to achieve an event approval. Railway Square does not have public toilets. Event organisers must hire portable toilets for the duration of the booked event.
The Booking must support local business where possible. For this reason the event organiser cannot source food vendors that duplicate the service of Railway Square’s café Syd & Phillis. Event organisers must notify Syd & Phillis of upcoming events. https://www.sydandphyllis.com/
Event organisers must ensure the space is left in a tidy manner.
Event organisers will forfeit their bond if the City:
incurs any time or cost as a result of your Booking;
there are substantiated complaints in relation to your Booking.
Event organisers are responsible for all damage suffered as a result of the Booking. Event organisers must indemnify, and keep, the City indemnified against all claims arising from, and all damage and costs incurred as a result of, the Booking.
Event organisers must comply with all written laws including, but not limited to, the Health Act, Local Government Act, Working With Children (Criminal Record Checking) Act 2004 and local laws.
Event organisers warrant that they will not infringe any intellectual property rights during the Booking.
Event organisers must obtain from the City written permission to consume liquor during the Booking. Event organisers must obtain a liquor licence if liquor is to be sold or provided under a cover. The approved licence must be presented to the City of Swan prior to the Booking.
