The LGISWA Casual Hirers’ Liability Protection policy, a Casual Hirer any person or group of persons (not being a sporting body, club, association, corporation or incorporated body), who hires a Council facility for non-commercial or non-profit making purposes, less than 12 times per period of protection. This 12 hire limit is a fundamental part of the policy’s definition and coverage eligibility and is not waived for low-risk activities.
Hirers who exceed the 12 hires per year limit are no longer considered ‘Casual Hirers’ under the policy. Such hirers are often considered commercial or regular hirers and the policy requires them to have their own Public Liability insurance, with a recommended minimum coverage limit of $10,000,000. The City may request a Certificate of Currency as evidence of this insurance to ensure adequate protection.
