Located along the Pioneer River, Bluewater Quay is a vibrant public space featuring picnic and barbecue areas, and notable public art installations like 'Fishbones' and 'Sugar Cubes' by Fiona Foley. The area also preserves the heritage-listed Leichhardt Tree, a historic meeting point for early settlers. Not only that, but this park also includes a timber stage, public facilities, access to power with shaded seating areas.
Park Hire Fees – What You Need to Know
Planning an event in one of Mackay’s beautiful parks? The following fees apply to park bookings. Please ensure you apply the relevant rate based on your event type, and park selection.
*No booking is required for events (excluding weddings) with fewer than 51 people, without amusements, entertainment, or alcohol.
51 - 500 People / $350 per booking
501 - 1500 people / $825 per booking
1501 + people / $1,910 per booking
Wedding Ceremony / $260 per booking
Refundable Key Fee / $50 per booking. This fee will be added to the bond amount and refunded upon return of key.

Special Conditions
1. Vehicle Access (Blue Water Quay ONLY) – Vehicle access has been granted under the following terms and conditions. Failure to adhere may result in compensation being sought for damages or park use being revoked.
Vehicle Access is permitted for the delivery of goods only.
If vehicle access is required, the vehicle must be escorted by the event organiser or an appointed representative. Escort is to comply with Workplace Health & Safety requirements and wear a hi-vis safety vest to escort the vehicle.
Vehicle speed must be kept to a maximum 15km/h.
Every precaution must be taken to ensure the safety of the public and those attending or participating in the organised activity or event.
Vehicles are not to remain in the Park for the duration of the event.
Vehicle access is only permitted through a removable bollard and will require a Park Access Key. Vehicle access over footpaths or gutters is strictly prohibited.
Vehicles are only permitted on the hardstand (concrete) areas of the Blue Water Quay but not to remain in the area for duration of the event.
Under no circumstances are vehicles to be driven or parked on any turfed areas at any time. Any damage to surfaces and/or underground infrastructure as a result of vehicle access will need to be repaired and the surface re-instated to its original condition by the approval holder/event organiser.
Events at the Bluewater Quay: No vehicle access is permitted during events at Bluewater Quay. Should an event be in progress, vehicles must be parked in designated loading zones or available car parks, and goods should be unloaded and transported via alternative methods.
2. BBQ’s (Blue Water Quay & River Wharves ONLY) – Any personal BBQs brought in for use on hard surfaces must be situated at a safe distance from people and vegetation. A drop sheet must be placed under the BBQ to protect the surface from grease drippings and all food waste. All food waste and grease drippings are to be disposed of accordingly.

This space does have vehicle access and will incur a $50 key bond to gain access.
