We use our hall for monthly markets, classes, meetings and Dutch events. We like sharing our fabulous community facilities to help raise funds for our club. The space is ideal for: Community gatherings and groups, dance classes, yoga classes, film screenings, consultations, celebrations like birthday parties, training, workshops, markets, fairs, and so much more.
About this space
Holland House is based in Penrose Auckland. Holland House is the club house for the Auckland Dutch Club. Our club was founded in 1948 and has been based at Holland House since 1993. We use our hall for monthly markets, classes, meetings and Dutch events. We like sharing our fabulous community facilities with locals to help raise funds for our club. This is our main hall, a great multi functional space suitable for regular groups or bigger celebration events. This space is ideal for: Community gatherings and groups, dance classes, yoga classes, film screenings, consultations, celebrations like birthday parties, training and workshops, markets, fairs, and so much more.
Our hall is split in 2 halls that can be divided by a sliding wall for a cozier atmosphere or split out groups. The front hall has wooden floors. The back of the hall has a polished cork floor. Both halls have a heat pump for heat and cooling as necessary. The rear hall has a sound system and a TV with Chrome cast. The rear hall is adjacent to the kitchen with serving roller windows and the kitchen can be accessed from the rear hall as well as from the hallway. There is a pretty fully equipped kitchen with fridge/freezer, oven, stove, microwave, hot water urn, kettle, filter coffee machine, dishwasher and lots of crockery. If you wish to deep fry food, you'll need to bring your own deep fryer.
There are 2 toilets in the entrance hall.
There's a partially covered deck at the back which can be accessed directly from the rear hall. The remainder of the back garden is fully fenced and therefore child friendly.
Holland House is a renovated church hall. Some of the church features can be found back in the high windows and ceilings. There are opening windows along the side of the building allowing for plenty of fresh air to flow through the hall. Holland House is wheelchair accessible via the backdoor; however, access to the bathroom may be limited (no specified accessibility toilet).

No smoking or vaping on the premises
You need to be 25 years or older to sign agreement
Holland House is located in a residential area, please consider neighbours with noise levels. Music must be turned off by 11pm. All party activities must cease by midnight. Hall must be vacated by 1am (if you are cleaning between midnight and 1am, all noise levels must be kept to a minimum). The Hirer will be liable for any monetary cost arising from complaints regarding noise.
BBQ is available on request but please bring your own gas bottle.
Deep fryers in the kitchen are only for the Auckland Dutch Club to be used. If you require a deep fryer please bring this yourself.
On rare occasions we may have to cancel or move your bookings for club purposes. You'll be notified of this in a timely fashion and alternative options will be discussed.
All casual bookings require a $250 Bond. This will be applied using Space Protect when your booking is reviewed. Please note if these funds are not available we are unable to approve the hall hire. If there is any damage caused by your event or we need to get a cleaning service in after your event because it was not left clean, this will be taken off your bond. If the damage caused by your event costs more than $250 to repair, you may be liable to pay for this cost. If you do not find the hall in a clean state or find damage on arrival, please take a photo and notify us immediately so you will not be held liable for this after your event.
We do have an optional $100 cleaning fee which can be added to your hall hire application. Please note this service may not be available if your event finishes late in the evening and there is another booking before a cleaning service can come in. When using this optional $100 cleaning service, we still expect you to have tidied up any rubbish, washed and put away all the dishes (to prevent rodent and insects infestations). The cleaner will wipe all services, clean toilets, sweep and mop floors.

Holland House has car parking for approx 6-8 cars. Generally there is lots of street parking available too. Ellerslie and Penrose Train stations are approx. 1.7km away. Bus stop 8180 and 8185 are approximately 150m away.
