Kowhai

Kowhai is our "standard" meeting room and is used for both meetings and in a clinical setting. It has privacy blinds, a table, whiteboard, and six chairs available, this adaptable space can be set up to suit your needs. The use of our kitchen and WIFI facilities are included in the hire, we ask that you please ensure used dishes are loaded into the dishwasher at the end of your visit with us.

A bit more about us:

Te Au o Te Koopua is a for-good community shared workspace operated by Community Waitākere in the heart of Henderson.

Te Au o Te Koopua is a name gifted to Community Waitākere by tangata whenua Te Kawerau a Maki, and we are incredibly honoured and humbled to have been bestowed with it. The community space we lease sits on ancestral land where iwi gathered to support each other, just as we do in our community development mahi today. It is a place that holds great mana and we respect that through our close relationship with iwi, kaimahi, kaumatua and kuia of the area and through our kaupapa. ‘Au’ comes from ‘Te Au o Te Whenua’, an ancestor of Maki and ‘koopua’ means deep pool, signifying the place where we are located being at the meeting of the two streams: Opanuku and Waikumete.
