About this space

Marvell Hall Community and Cultural Centre is located at 37 Marvell St Byron Bay, just a short walk to the CBD and beautiful beaches. It is wheelchair accessible.

Byron’s home to the 'Gentler Arts’ currently hosts various fitness, dance and drama groups, concerts, book launches, interviews, community forums and meetings, art exhibitions, training workshops, therapy and wellbeing sessions.

Special weekend events are held throughout the year.

The venue boasts a large versatile hall with capacity for 135 people, complete with a mirrored wall and original hardwood floor. There is a stage with spotlight system and projector screen. Effective overhead fans and side fans are also installed. Views overlook Marvell Hall’s gardens.

Please note: Community groups and not for profit organisations are eligible for discounted rates. Regular Hirers also qualify for a discounted rate.

If the hire of the Mackellar room is not required for the same number of hours as Oodgeroo please state which hours you require for Mackellar. Events in Oodgeroo and Mackellar must be compatible with the other event.

If you wish to hire the Hall for a full day, weekend or a long workshop and there is a conflict with an existing booking, it is possible that the existing booking could be cancelled suspended

We endeavour to make Marvell Hall work for as many people as possible.

Currently WIFI is not available at MH however many hirers successfully use personal hotspot.

  • A large open space with wooden floorings, stage, mirrored wall and chair store. Back door opens to rear gardens.

  • Alcohol permitted subject to application approval and supply of current RSA Certification.

  • Ceiling and wall fans fitted.

  • Heaters are available.

  • Both floor and stage downlights are dimmable.


  • A kiosk is available to hirers for DRINKS ONLY refreshments- bring your own tea, coffee etc. Clean items and return items to cupboards after use.

All casual bookings will attract a SpaceProtect hold (bond). If your booking has been approved, please see terms & conditions for further information.

  • Marvell Hall is situated in a residential area. Hirers must take responsibility to ensure all sound/noise emitted from their event meets the NSW regulatory noise levels. Where possible and especially at early morning and evening event we encourage hirers to close the doors and windows and to also request patrons exiting the premises have regard to the quiet enjoyment of the neighbourhood.

  • The hire is to be fully managed by the client; the Hall does provide a host at request.

  • 15 minutes is allocated for bump in/bump out. If you require additional time, please include in your booking request.

  • Please contact Cass Lloyd Hall Manager 0468453344 who is happy to advise on set up, décor and equipment.

  • The spaces are designed to be flexible with white board, movable plinths on the stage and lightweight furniture. We suggest checking the inventory list before hiring extra equipment.

  • On leaving hall all windows and all doors must be locked, ceiling and wall fans and lights turned off. All hired spaces should be returned to original state and layout. Taking a photo of the space on arrival may be useful.

  • Floors must be swept, or dry mopped with disinfectant spray. Tables to be wiped clean. You will find cloths, mops, brushes and sprays in the Butlers Room in foyer.

  • All rubbish to be removed from hall and placed in large bins outside hall on left-hand side. Please take any excess rubbish with you when leaving the Hall. A charge to remove any excess rubbish will be applied at cost.

  • There is a quick reminder check list on the exit doors of each room to help when leaving.

  • If your hired space is left in an unacceptable condition, requiring a cleaner to attend, a fee of $60 per hour will be applied.


Please be mindful there is a charge for lost keys- $50 will be deducted from the SpaceProtect hold (bond).


No charge for whiteboard. Please bring own whiteboard markers and eraser and leave board clean. If permanently marked a deduction will be taken from your account.


  • Children must be supervised at all times.

  • No smoking rule applies throughout the building

  • Only assistance/guide dogs on leads are allowed on the premises.

Host's Cancellation Policy
100% refund on cancellations up until 14 days before your booking. After that, cancel and get a 50% refund.
Parking and Public Transport Information

Free parking in the neighbourhood. Please do not obstruct neighbours' driveways.
